NOTE: THIS LOG MARKS THE TWO YEAR ANNIVSARY OF PHASE 3 DEVELOPMENT. NOW THAT THIS DEVELOPMENT IS ESSENTIALLY FINISHED, THE LOG WILL FOCUS MORE ON THE RIO ORO DEVELOPMENT. IT WILL BE INFORMATIVE TO THOSE PLANNING ON BUILDING, THOSE LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO PURCHASE OR TO LEASE, AND FOR THOSE WONDERING WHAT EXPATS DO IN COSTA RICA AND THE LIFESTYLE OF TWO ORDINARY PEOPLE.

The Story: Cleaning up and clearing out

CONSTRUCTION

Weather: gorgeous mornings with some afternoon rains. Unlike last year when it rained more or less continuously during September and October, the past week has felt more like early December—some light breezes and periodic rain.

Unit 102: The sale of this unit occurred on Wednesday. Granite supplier is still slow and the fountain person as well.

Rebuilding Small Rancho Roof: this is well advanced. It would have been finished by now but we need more material and haven’t as yet be able to buy matching material.

Satellite TV: the signal failed on Thursday; we’re hoping the supplier can fix the problem but this is becoming a dead end issue.

Irrigation System: no progress on this

VOIP Phone system: the performance has been sporadic lately. The reason may have been simply a faulty phone. I’ve replaced it with a new hand set.

Rio Oro Development

Changes have been made to the site plan; we haven’t reviewed them in detail. We have authorized the soil study and have approved the design of the perimeter fence. We continue to clear the land of brush and debris. Next week we should have more staff working there as they run out of work at Los Jardines.

OUR LIVES

Wednesday was an 8 Advil tablet day but I survived and subsequent days have gotten better. I’ve been plagued with car trouble over the past several weeks; fortunately I have back up transportation. Motivating the staff to finish things off isn’t working; everyone wants to drag their ass at this stage even though we have continuing work at Rio Oro.
