Costa Rica Costa Rica is the second smallest country in Central America. It is better known around the world for Ex-President Oscar Arias, Nobel Prize winner, and as the country without an army. It should also be known as a country where almost a quarter of its land has become either a national forest or an ecological reserve. The system of national parks, reserves and wildlife refuges includes 56 areas that cover 2,2 million acres of land, equivalent to 18% of the country. In them you can find a large number of the species native to Costa Rica: 205 of mammals, 845 of birds, 160 of amphibians, 218 of reptiles and 1,013 of salt and freshwater fish! Also, some 10,000 species of plants are identified in Costa Rica, which is almost 4% of the total number of species that exist in the world. |

From the Juan Santamaria International Airport:

Turn south (at the east end of the runway) from the
main highway heading to Belén.
Follow the meandering road generally south -there are several sharp
turns, down a hill, past a stream. Follow the signs to QUALITY HOTEL or Automercado
/ Santa Ana.
After passing the new large shopping mall near Belen,
take a right (heading west) at the "T" junction. At the Panasonic corner, turn left (south) to Santa Ana.
You will cross a long bridge over a deep river gorge, past Automercado
mall on your left, past MATRA (a heavy equipment company), turn left (east) at EL
LAGAR (building supply store on the left (east) side.
After about 4 blocks, turn left at the "T" junction, pass the Catholic
church of Pozos about 4 blocks (400 meters), turn right (east).
Proceed approximately 2 blocks (200 meters).
We are on the right hand side past the yellow walled gated
compound. You will see the sign "Residencias Los Jardines".
From San José:

Having passed Escazu on the main highway leading to Ciudad Colón,
exit Santa Ana. The QUALITY HOTEL in located at this intersection. Turn right (north) toward
Belen / Airport. At EL LAGAR (a building
materials supply store about 600 meters past the QUALITY HOTEL), turn right.
After about 4 blocks, turn left at the "T" junction. Pass the Catholic
church of Pozos about 4 blocks (400 meters), turn right (east).
Proceed approximately 2 blocks.
We are on the right hand side past the yellow walled gated
compound. You will see the sign "Residencias Los Jardines".
