...TACA Air & The Dance Stops

Brian Timmons, Newsletter Author
Brian Timmons

Dear friends,

When I started Residencias Los Jardines, I started writing a weekly news letter -determined to tell all the good, bad, and the ugly. I knew some readers would be interested in the construction process. I expected others might be interested in the lifestyle of two people who had decided to live outside the box. For others, the adventures of Lita, the parrot and the cat took on an entertainment saga all its own.

Residencias Los Jardines is finished. We periodically have resales and rental availability. Some readers may be interested in this information.

More and more, the content will be dominated by events of our new project, "El Dorado" for short. While the future is always uncertain, I again aim to tell it like it happens -the good, the bad, and the ugly, and that is what follows.

Construction Log
Updates about Hacienda El Dorado

Rio Oro: ...the dance stops: we expect the dance to stop this week when we sign with one of the two contenders. Paul and I have the same assessment but we're reviewing them fact to fact Saturday afternoon... and then we will go on to review some unfinished issues.

In discussing our situation, I may have given a friend in Ontario and idea for his situation... If I have, great... that's what discussions are for... sharing experiences...

Our Lives

WEATHER: the dry, less wind and more seasonal temperatures.

All in a Week's Living in CR:

TACA air: The return trip was just as great... no line up at the check in counter, space at the waiting lounge, food and drink including booze all the way; perhaps a 40 min. leg stretch in San Salvador and time to buy whatever at duty free... couldn't have been easier... and avoided all the security of US airports... none at San Salvador... luggage checked all the way through... both going and coming departures left at reasonable hours and arrived at reasonable hours.

Toronto: the trip worked well for us. We got done everything we needed and had time to visit with friends and family. We ate out a few times and were disappointed each time... my memory of restaurants hasn't stood the test of time... either my tastes have changed or the restaurant's food has changed... I think the latter... I also bought a bundle of favorites at the grocery store... they weren't very good. CR is looking better all the time... or at least the restaurant food will be put into the same category as Toronto restaurant food. I simply can't adjust to the $500-$600 sf cost of homes in Toronto -it's crazy from my perspective... but I thought this 10 years ago and while I still think so, my timing was obviously wrong. However, even though we had great accommodations through friends -good location, use of their car and their house and their company... nothing beats waking up in the morning to sunshine, warm weather, the sound of water, and tropical vegetation.
